Khleang Pagoda is among the oldest and most representative Khmer temples in the Soc Trang area, standing in the town centre opposite the Khmer museum. It shows the classic Khmer Theravada form, with roofs stacked in several tiers, eaves sweeping up into Naga serpents and Krud bird figures appearing to carry the roof. Inside the main hall stand heavy timber columns finished in red lacquer and gold leaf, while the ceiling and walls carry paintings telling the life of the Buddha. The grounds are shaded by tall sao and palmyra palms and host the major Khmer festivals such as Chol Chnam Thmay and Ok Om Bok. The pagoda also teaches Khmer script and scripture to local children.
