Silver Waterfall is a scenic waterfall right beside National Route 4D, the main road to Lai Chau, about 12 kilometres north west of central Sa Pa. It drops more than 200 metres and is the source of the Muong Hoa stream at about 1,800 metres, below O Quy Ho pass. On clear days it can be seen as a white ribbon from Ham Rong mountain in the centre of Sa Pa, and the white foam of the falling water, like flowers, gave it its name. It is one of the places with the heaviest snowfall in Sa Pa; in March 2011 snow around the falls lay more than 10 centimetres deep. The site has separate paths up and down, joined by a bridge halfway up the fall. At the foot of the slope a salmon breeding centre uses water piped from the falls.
